Wedding Photography Questions you might not have thought about
Planning a wedding is a full-time job, and usually, not something people get to do a lot. So it’s hard to know what information you need to give your photographer. Most photographers will ask if it’s essential for the day, but here is an idea of what to expect when you are planning your wedding photography.
Are there "must-have" shots or specific poses you want?
Are there any venue restrictions or photography-related restrictions the photographer should know about?
Are meals provided for the photographers? (Not required but it is good to know what the options are if you need your photographer to shoot a full-day )
Is there anything special about your wedding attire, such as sentimental elements, custom details, or family heirlooms that you would like highlighted in the photos?
What style of photography do you prefer (e.g., candid, posed, a mix of both)?
Are there any specific traditions or rituals during the ceremony or reception that the photographer should be aware of?
What are the key events during the reception, and in what order will they occur?
Are there any specific locations where you would like your photos taken? It could be within your venue, a fun shot in the middle of the street, or even a spot that has meaning for you. As a photographer, I will cover all the available locations I find beautiful but your suggestions are always welcome and no idea is bad. The photos are for both of you and you should have the shots that make you happy!
Are there any shots or angles you do or do not want?
Do you have any specific themes or aesthetics you’re aiming for? Feel free to share your Pinterest board or any images you have saved!
Are there any other ceremonies or cultural traditions that I should prepare for?
Will there be any surprise elements or performances during the event that I should be ready to capture?
Do you have a wedding planner or coordinator? If so, please provide their contact information.
List of key moments you want to capture if you think aren’t too obvious (e.g., gift exchange with bridesmaids, a surprise for your partner or guests. In a wedding I was filming for a couple had an owl as ring bearer!)
