What really goes on behind wedding photography and understanding the cost
For any of the packages you choose, we have email and call correspondence, physical meetings, test shoots, and planning your schedule on the day, what style of photography you prefer, the different locations we are shooting at, family details, etc.
For the Full Day Package
Another special moment is the first look with parents.
On the day of your wedding if you so choose, I could be there from the time you are both getting ready to photograph the behind-the-scenes, moments with your parents, bridesmaids/groomsmen. The dress, suit/kilt, hair, makeup, and rings.
I love being there for getting ready photos as there a lot of sweet moments between friends, I like to take photos of the dress before its on and it creates beautiful memories for a day you planned for months and goes by in a blink.
Getting ready 1 hour —I arrive just as you are finishing your hair/ makeup and before you put on the dress. Ideally, I would also get photos of the groom getting ready it is not too far away from you and the venue
Ceremony up to 2 hours — I arrive before you do to make sure everything is ready and figure out the layout of the venue and where I can shoot from without interrupting your ceremony.
I discuss with your officiant about their plans and where they would be comfortable with me to take photos from as to not disturb them. I often ask for them to announce to the guests about putting their devices away so the phones don’t make it into your photos.
Depending on what kind of ceremony you choose to have, there will be different time lengths from half an hour to 1 hour +.
While you prepare, I take photos of your guests arriving at the venue, interacting with each other, and little details of the ceremony.
I will be documenting your ceremony, “first kiss” and exit from the ceremony, hopefully with guests throwing flower confetti at you!
Family & Couples Photos 2 hours — Before we leave to take your romantic couples photos, we gather up the family and friends to take a group photo and then smaller groups of your close family, parents, siblings and friends.
For the couples’ photos, I would ideally take as much time as we have, photos are more stunning when they aren’t rushed, we have time to relax with each other, you have the opportunity to have sweet candid moments between you, and also master up the nervousness to do a few poses. ( Nothing dramatic, unless you want to!)
Speeches + Cake Cutting 1 hour
Dinner & Drinks 2 hours ( For meals I usually take a break to have a meal as well and leave your guests to enjoy their food but continue for drinks and revelry )
Party 1-2 hours
All the above are usually intertwined or in different orders depending on what feels right for you. I will be there capturing all the moments of the day and your friends and family celebrating you.
After the Wedding
Backing up photos, editing, and sending previews.
Concludes with about 10 hours of shooting and preparation
20 + hours of sorting through and editing photos and uploading for you to receive. For a full day, I might take 8000 photos. To make sure I don’t miss anything important I look through every single one of them and edit the best.
Overall amounts to about 30 hours of work for a full-day package
Half Day
The half-day is determined by how many hours you might need me for. It could be mixed and matched between getting ready, ceremony and portraits or ceremony, portraits and a party so it depends on your schedule. After we discuss I can create a specific quote depending on the hours and how many photos you’d like back.
Usually ranges between 4-5 hours
Includes 10+ hours of editing and previews same day as well. For a half day, I could take 4000 photos and I go through all of them to ensure we have the best images of the day.
Overall 10 hours of work
Elopement
Usually, elopements are characterised by no guests or very few, it might just be a short ceremony and a few portraits before and after as well as candid/documentary-style photos as well.
Usually 1-2 hours
It includes 3-4 hours of editing and previews on the same day.
Overall 5-6 hours of work
